How food delivery services are charging extra from their users.

I always try to look at multiple apps that belong to the same services to understand how they are different from each other and what unique value they are providing. So before the lockdown, I tried to search the same restaurant on two major food delivery platforms Swiggy and Zomato. I got surprised to see the major price difference on the checkout screen for the same product (dish) from the same restaurant at the same time on two different platforms.

Let me explain this further, the total bill was ₹275 excluding taxes which was the same on both the platforms. Then both the platforms added the taxes (Swiggy call it restaurant charges) which was ₹13.75. Then there were delivery charges which were ₹25-26, which makes a total of ₹314 on Swiggy. Now here’s the thing, over and above all this Zomato also added ₹40 in the name of "Restaurant Packaging Charges" which made the Zomato total ₹354.76

I am still wondering what type of packaging is this, for which only Zomato is charging ₹40 extra.

I cross-check this with the restaurant they said they are providing the same packaging for Swiggy and Zomato.
